What should you treat mom to on Mother's Day?
Here is what we say at Aroma Thyme Bistro.
Kevin Burns, bar manager at Aroma Thyme Bistro,
recommends Lambics as a sweet beer for Mother’s Day.
Lambics are Belgian-style beers that may have fruit
added into them after the first fermentation. The
most common kinds of lambics are Kriek (cherries),
Frambroise (raspberries), PĂȘche (peach) and Cassis
(black currant). Kevin’s personal favorite is
Lindeman’s Framboise. The beer pours a red color with
plenty of raspberries in the aroma. The beer has a
champagne-like crispness and tastes quite sweet with a
lot of fruit.

Sweetness and light for Mother's Day.
Start with the light-- sparkling wine. At Aroma Thyme Bistro you can treat your mother to some bubbly at a variety of points along the price spectrum, from our really nice, lively Di Bona Cava from Spain, to Krug 1995 from Champagne.
Sparkling wines are the perfect thing for toasts and who better to toast than the woman that brought you into the world?
And at the end of a meal, comes the sweetness, and who deserves sweetness more than the mothers of the world? We have a pretty remarkable selection of semi-sweet to absolutely luscious wines to accompany desserts. From Alsace we have Zind Humbrecht's "Zind"- a blend of Alsace varietals with a semi-sweet finish. From South America we have the Tardio, a late harvest wine made from the Torrontes grape. From New York State we have Wagner Ice Wine and from Sauternes, the capital of all things sweet, honeyed and delicious, we have three selections,
La Bastor de Montagne, le Dauphin de Guiraud and Chateau Gilette 1985.
And if you'd rather combine the sweetness with the light? Then try a half bottle of
Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec. This is Champagne the way it used to be, back in the
great days of the 19th century when Brut was thought quite brutal and everyone
wanted that sweetness in the wine that makes this offering special.
